About Stephen

Personal Bio:

“My name is Stephen, and I’ve been a gamer since I was 10 years old.”

(in unison) “Hi Stephen”

My addiction first began with that old gray box we can probably only find in pawn shops nowadays… the NES. Battletoads and Contra to be exact. And like all gamers, my addiction changed forms with each console that was released. It’s safe to say that half my childhood would be wiped clean from any gaming influence without such classics as Legend of Zelda: Octarina of Time and Super Mario 64. I became a gamer… and it was good. PC games grew on me as solid Blizzard games like Diablo and Starcraft struck another chord by expanding my gaming into RTS and RPGs. Growing up my gaming addiction was subtle until a friend game me a hulk of a control for the original Xbox with a little known game called Halo.  Like me, you probably spent entire days in front of the TV / Computer screen enjoying game after game growing up.

The fact of the matter is, gaming is my life. Not all of it (hey, a guy’s gotta eat!). When I’m not rooting for my sports teams or working on some other journalistic endeavor, I have a controller in my hand, escaping reality as a ninja, space marine or an assassin. I can’t stop. I won’t stop. I am a gamer.

I did manage to achieve a college degree and put my addiction to good use with writing. I received a Mass Communications Degree for Journalism at the University of South Florida, Go Bulls! I have written for this blog ever since as a hobby of mine. I do not feel my opinion is the best or sometimes (most of the time) even the most informed, but I know it isn’t bias from developer connections. No free shipped games or early handouts for me, giving me free reign to my opinion and subsequent score. I have always looked at both sides of a story before producing any opinion. With no corporate attachment and little bias I can provide a small difference from the rest. This is why I choose to write this blog… Well that and to rationalize my love and addiction for the greatest form of entertainment.
